Long Distance Service!

Many companies have promoted the idea of discount unlimited flat rate long distance telephone service in the $20 - $75/mo. range.   That sounds great - especially if you're currently spending $100 or more!   And many people (especially 'mlm junkies') are quick to jump on the bandwagon.   But there are many problems to running and maintaining a RELIABLE network like this.   Most that have tried have failed, and many of these companies are out of business in less than a year.   When that happens, the Customers and Independent Associates or Representatives that put up their cash to join these ' fantastic business opportunities ' are out of business and usually out some money.   The only ones who make any money are the crooks and con-artists who start some of these programs.

I'm not pointing a finger specifically at any of the companies listed here.   They were just some of the more common programs when this was originally written in 1999.   And I'll be surprised if any of them are in business or providing RELIABLE service in the year 2000 and beyond.   And many others will probably 'come and go' by the time you read this.   Just know it's 'BUYER BEWARE'.

If you value your friendships, be careful before recommending any of your friends join any of these programs.   Most have 'crashed & burned' leaving their former customers high and dry.   Make sure before you get involved that the program has been working, providing QUALITY service, and up and running for a MINIMUM of 3-6 months.

I used Telefreedom's service briefly until they CHANGED and raised their rates in June of 2000.   There are several other carriers promising reliable (???) service anywhere from $99 - $149/mo.   I'll continue to monitor this area in the hopes that someone will eventually provide HONEST, RELIABLE, service.   But as of this writing I remain skeptical.   Click on the 'Contact me' LINK near the bottom of this page if you wish to be kept abreast of developements in this area.

Most people are probably much better served by a 'conventional' long distance provider.   Rates continue to trend downward and there are many good deals available if you're willing to do a little shopping.   Visit one of my LINKS below for some of the best rates and plans available anywhere.

Don't get me wrong.   I'm not 'anti' MLM or Network Marketing.   In fact in just the past two years I've discovered how powerful, rewarding, and profitable, LEGITIMATE Network Marketing programs can be! (yes, there are a few out there)   And I'd be glad to share my findings with you in a special report,   "Nine Secrets to Success in Network Marketing".

But before getting involved in Network Marketing, as a charter member of the OPAA (One-Plus Agent Association), I sold discount Long Distance and Telecom services to small and medium sized businesses.   So I've been around the long distance and telecommunications industry for several years.   By dealing only with reputable, legitimate companies, I've not only saved myself, my clients, and my customers a lot of money and headaches, but have been fortunate to keep us from getting 'burned'.   There's no shortage of scams and ripoffs in the Telecom, Long Distance, and Home-based-business industries.   And so far Unlimited Flat Rate Long Distance appears to be one of them.   So it's, "Buyer Beware!".

I can't say if TeleFreedom, USATalks, MLSA, Key Chain PhoneUSA (KCPUSA), Nu Life Seminars, or any of the other promoters of discount unlimited flat rate long distance phone service are legitimate.   The concept has some potential.   But UNTIL NOW nobody I know of has been able to provide reliable service, or prove they can handle the large volume of traffic that is often generated.   Others who've promoted this type of service have come and gone.   In fact most of the ones mentioned here will probably be gone by the time you read this.

They all ask for money up front, with promises of great savings and 'get rich quick & easy'.   Unfortunately most have not lasted a year, some never even got off the ground.   So be careful before investing any money, and don't invest more than you can afford to lose.   The true power and benefit of a GOOD network marketing program is LONG TERM, RESIDUAL INCOME, not 'get rich quick & easy'.

I have many LEGITIMATE, LOW COST long distance programs available.   None require ANY upfront investment!   Besides great INTER-state long distance rates from 2 - 5 cents/min., some also offer great INTRA-state (within the state) rates in the .04 - .06 cents/min. range!   If you're at all familiar with long distance, you'll realize those are exceptional INTRA-state rates!   Most companies promote their INTER-state rates, then 'sock-it-to-you' with higher INTRA-state rates, monthly fees, or other 'hidden' charges.   Do you know what you are REALLY paying per minute for ALL your long distance?   Most people do not.
