Mike & Marcie Duffey - Gone to the Dogs

Hello!  And thanks for visiting our "about us" page.

As of this writing we live in the country about 30 miles west of Green Bay, Wisconsin.  We've been happily married for over 12 years (second time for both of us) and are the proud parents of four wonderful adult children (two each from previous marriages) and three GRANDchildren.

Even though we're grandparents we like to think the nutritional supplements we take help keep us "young at heart."

We enjoy OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES all year long, are fortunate to own some recreational property in the area, and have several lakes and rivers nearby.

The picture above was taken on a "balmy" day in January, 2005 with our two German Wirehaired Pointers - "Blatz" & "Fancy" - and our Chocolate Lab - "Daley."  I think the temperature was about 0 degrees.

My father is an author and well known expert on hunting dogs, so I've been around them all my life.  I've trained dogs professionally, had several articles published, and won many competitive events with them.  I've also travelled around the U.S.A. & Canada judging hunting dog tests and hosting training clinics.

Although I enjoyed a brief and successful stint in the Real Estate industry many years ago my primary business background is Retirement & Financial Planning.  I still maintain my license in my home state of Wisconsin and help people who are interested find SAFE ways to MAXIMIZE returns on their long term savings and investments.

Several years ago I recognized advantages offered by the Internet and technology and got interested in the booming "Home Business" and network marketing industries.  After several months of research I jumped in with both feet.  Since then I've learned a lot, have had above average success with a couple different companies, and have authored numerous articles on various "Secrets to Success."  I even turned down one $10,000 offer to write a book.

Except for four years in the Air Force in the early 1970's, I've been self-employed most of my life and love the FREEDOM that has given me.

As I mentioned above I've been succesfully involved in Real Estate and Retirement & Financial Planning and have been involved in a couple other businesses.  But I've been "semi-retired" since the age of 34.

After reading Steven Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" many years ago, I formulated a simple mission statement while sitting on top of a mountain in Idaho contemplating the "meaning of life," and what I wanted to do with the rest of mine:

At that time I had been "semi-retired" for several years, trying to enjoy life while I still had my good health and the ability to pursue some of my passions and hobbies.   Marcie and I had not been married for long, and she worked a conventional J.O.B.   She thought I was having a little too much fun and had too much time off without her.   And I didn't think I was making enough money for BOTH of us to "retire".   :-)

So when I returned home from that trip I spent the next several months researching the Home Business, Franchise, and Network Marketing industries, while contemplating reviving my semi-dormant Retirement & Financial Planning business.   I had left the real estate industry several years prior, because even though I enjoyed what I did, I put in a lot of hours every week and eventually realized I woke up "unemployed" every day...   No money came in unless I got up and went to work.

In the Insurance & Financial Planning industry I discovered PASSIVE RECURRING INCOME.  It's called "renewals" in the insurance industry.  And after a few years of hard work, I was able to enjoy "semi-retirement" for awhile.  So I knew PASSIVE RECURRING INCOME would be an important part of whatever business I decided to pursue.

Eventually it became obvious for many reasons that the BEST way to achieve MY GOALS AND DREAMS was through the ever-evolving and improving Network Marketing industry.

Prior to that time I had never been involved with or believed in the many "opportunities" I'd been "pitched on" over the years.   And frankly, like most "outsiders," I had a negatively biased opinion.   But I never REALLY UNDERSTOOD the guiding principles behind the legitimate segment of the Network Marketing industry and BUSINESS MODEL.

Success did not come quick or easy.   My first 18 months I spent a lot of money, but didn't really make any profits.   But I "hung in there" and "failed forward".   And what I've learned since can save you years of frustration or failure!
