Building a Book

(A special page for students and teachers.)

Writing a book is like building an igloo. It can be hard, but satisfying, work. You must build it block by block - step by step. If you build your igloo or book right, it will be strong. But if just one step is missing, the whole thing might collapse.

Follow the numbers in the igloo below to learn the author's steps from idea to finished book. And remember: to be successful, you must have a positive attitude and keep a mental image of what you hope to accomplish. In many ways, these are even more important than the steps listed below. If you want something badly enough, it is yours IF you work for it and believe it's possible.

Enter the igloo at #1 and see where it takes you! Then Test Your Memory! See if you can remember what was in each block without peeking!

The foundation of an igloo begins with the right type of snow.

The foundation of a book begins with

Talent + Ambition + Persistence + Study + Action

Put those together and they may spell: SUCCESS!

Here are three important things that will help the process along:

1. Read - Read - Read!

2. Limit television viewing!

3. Study grammar & punctuation!
